Another peek at a few of the the wonderful (and quirky) things I love about Japan from my recent trip to Tokyo: the sea of neon lights in Shinjuku and Shibuya (that never dim) juxtaposed with the tranquil, residential backstreets; sitting cross-legged on the floor to a keiseki (traditional Japanese feast) at a ryokan in peaceful Hakone against the looming backdrop of Mt Fuji and babbling streams; the face it is perfectly acceptable to be wearing a business suit with a tangle of Rilakkuma bear charms hanging from a bag (in an entirely non-ironic way); slurping noodles shoulder-to-shoulder with businessmen in Ebisu; cat cafes (the strangest/coolest invention for stressed out city-dwellers); the romance of an entire city turning pink beneath the canopy of the sakura blossom’s first blush.
Love, Miss B xx
Wow B….yet more gorgeous pics..the one of you in the leather jacket is so uber cool! You look fabulous! It looks like such an amazing trip and can’t wait to hear all about it when I see you! xx
What a gorgeous post. It’s a dream of mine to visit Japan one day.
What exactly are cat cafes? I’m intrigued not least because I love cats…
Makes me want to go visit again!
Stunning images, as always!

Briony, I love your beautiful pictures! They remind me of a time when I used to roam the streets of Tokyo myself 🙂 They also remind me of how deeply contrasted the city is: the most refined culture and a worship for nature yet one of the most bustling and modern places you’ll ever find.
Your post is lovely! It definitely makes me more interested in visiting Japan.
Wonderful pictures!! Ah girl u do know how to enjoy!;)

Omg…so envious!!! I’ve always wanted to go to Tokyo!!! Looks like you had a great time there. The sakura blossoms look ohh so pretty! You certainly went at the right time=) It’s still on my list of places to go visit and see, hehe.
We have cat cafes over here in Hong Kong as well but i’ve only been to one. It’s cute yet i find it weird drinking there with them walking around me, lol.
I really like this description that you wrote “slurping noodles should to shoulder with businessmen” – it totally captures a moment of Japan!!! Hehehehe….i’ve not been to Japan but i’ve seen Japanese soaps/dramas and they’re always in these small Japanese noodle bars/stalls and eating shoulder to shoulder. You’re an awesome writer dear!!!=D
