Yellow does not feature heavily in my wardrobe. In fact, even after a thorough scan, the only yellow items I own are two silk scarves: one a vintage London souvenir scarf that was a gift from a friend before I moved to the UK, and another a silk chiffon number with intricate silver sequined beading.
But suddenly the daffodils are everywhere and the Cambridge river banks are awash with yellow. After months of winter, they’re the first sign of life, and everything feels more optimistic and sunny when they appear. I always try and have fresh flowers in the house, but there’s nothing cheerier than jars and vases of spring flowers in every room.
Yellow looks particularly amazing against a black and white canvas. For some inspiration, i’ve chosen some of my favourite yellow items for the home and wardrobe. I dream of owning this Lanvin dress (which SJP wore the other day while promoting the upcoming Sex and the City movie), but since it’s sadly out of my budget, I might have to settle for these Marc Jacobs shorts instead. The boots would brighten the April rainy days which seem to insist on continuing, and the Thorsten van Elten pigeon light is ridiculously quirky cool.

What always makes you smile in Spring?
