Red, white and blue at Bill Blass (backstage at New York fashion week)
To all my lovely readers across the pond, happy Independence Day! How are you all spending your holiday weekend?
Although no part of me is American, I feel a tiny piece of me belongs there. As a child I used to frequently travel all over the country with my family, and once at university, I later returned by myself where I lived in Washington D.C. for several amazing months. It marked a turning point in my life, and still remains among the happiest and most significant moments in my life thus far. I fantasise about returning to live there for a year or so if circumstances will allow; holidaying in the Hamptons and Connecticut, driving across the majestic desert, and glamming it up in New York.
The fashion world is a little bit brighter thanks to these three American designers (amongst many, many others). L-R: Marc Jacobs, Zac Posen, Oscar de la Renta
So, to the country that brought us Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Alexander Wang, old Hollywood glamour and televisions, Apple Macs and Carrie Bradshaw, Ernest Hemmingway and Vogue, blue jeans and bikinis, Motown and MTV, Frank Sinatra and Friends, constitutions and Kennedy’s, Starbucks and smores… I salute you.
What are your favourite American creations of the last century?
Love, Miss B xx

As an expat myself, I know what it’s like. So thank you very much – that’s very sweet! What do you miss most from the States when you’re away?

love this! I’m living in the US right now and I definitely adore it here… although the teenagers setting off fireworks on the streets during this weekend was not fun!

I live in London and I have always been meaning to visit America in Particular New York. That question is too wide there are too many great designers, but my favourite are Rodarte, in general, they are so innovative.
p.s liking the blog, will definitely be popping back in. xx
