One of my favourite things about New York is the unique style that characterizes each neighbourhood. Though the city is a veritable melting pot of influences, the colours, sounds, people and style nonetheless vary from area to area. Here is my take on my favourite areas…
BROOKLYN
Williamsburg, Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights. Leafy streets and bicycles. Brownstones and walk-ups. Bicycles and beautiful children. Beatniks and bohos. Artists and musos. Poets and lovers. Coffee shops and vintage stores. Bridges and East River promenades.
MIDTOWN
Skyscrapers and superheros. The neon glare of Times Square and 42nd Street. Editors and alpha-fashionistas. Briant Park. Beaux Arts glamour. Diamonds and department stores. Taxis, tourist and sirens. Union Square Market. Views to take your breath away…
WEST VILLAGE/GREENWICH VILLAGE
Vespas and vino. Beautiful people at beautiful cafes. Red brick and red velvet cupcakes. Bleeker Street for Marc Jacobs and Magnolia Bakery. Carrie Bradshaw. Picnics on the Hudson River. Literary types and muses. Washington Square Park. Sex shops and stilettos.
Do you have a favourite New York neighbourhood?

Can you believe I have never been to NYC? I know I would love it, though. Los Angeles just do not do it for me. Well, there’s no comparison, really…

I know what you mean – I was actually going to use a picture of a different girl, but this one one her bike (which is very Brooklyn) was too cute not to put in there!
Off to visit yours now xx

Great post & pictures! I hope you will cover the other neighborhoods as your title suggests. I didn’t get the chance to go to Brooklyn unfortunately, but in Manahattan I liked the East & West villages the best.
Oh, nice Bloglovin’ widget by the way 😉

I went to New York too! I loved the Lower East Side and Soho. In Brooklyn, I liked Bushwick and Williamsburg. I always, always have a great time there!

I’m now a little frightened that I’m not chic enough for NY! 😛

I love these two posts. When I was in NYC I saw so many people wearing quite neutral, basic pieces with a luxe edge which I loved.
