Giveaway: A Little Ralph Lauren Holiday Cheer

Uncategorized 17 December 2011

52

The most divine package landed on my desk yesterday morning; the utterly charming and lovely Ralph Lauren (the undisputed Godfather of that polished glamour I love so much) sent me over a couple of his ‘Holiday’ candles to put a great big smile on my face and instantly get me in the festive spirit.

I love beautiful scented candles more than almost any other small luxury for the home, and this one is amongst the best I’ve ever tried. The fragrant cocktail of pine needles, redcurrants, cinnamon and juniper berries is almost indescribably lovely, and it has instantly infused me with festive joy more than any of the mince pies and Rat Pack Christmas tunes I’ve been gorging on all week. And as if by some Christmas miracle, it started snowing outside my window here in Cambridge just after I lit it. I can’t tell you how much it filled me with glee to awake this morning to the sight of a fluffy layer of white icing on the ground and a house that smelt of Christmas. How’s that for a magical holiday candle?

And because I adore you all so much and want someone else to have a little of Ralph Lauren’s holiday cheer (I can’t promise it will bring you snow, but I am sure one smell of this will make you feel instantly happy and festive), I’m going to give one of the these away.

To enter, just leave a comment here or send me an email telling me why you’d like to win. For extra brownie points (though I’m by no means going to be bossy about and insist you do anything), follow A Girl, A Style via your preferred methods (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram (on iPhone/iPad) or Bloglovin‘), and Ralph Lauren’s Facebook page. Be sure to include your email address so that I can contact you if you win. And so that I can try my very best to get it to the winner in time for Christmas day, last entries by 11am Monday morning GMT.

Thank you Ralph Lauren for the holiday cheer!

Love, Miss B xx

Update: Thank you to all who entered, and congratulations to Barbara on winning!

I’d love to win because that candle sounds like it smells heavenly! My family has yet to get our tree (we’re cutting it close) and I’m dreaming of that incredible smell that only Christmas greenery can bring…

I would love to win a Ralph Lauren candle because it’s so hard to get into the Christmas spirit in Australia. It’s not as hot as usual, but it’s still too hot for the candy cane striped sweater I bought. I still can’t explain why I bought a Christmas sweater, I should know better.

The only thing I can cling to is the smell of Christmas. It’s never too hot for a smell, right…..

Haha my wish is almost the opposite to the previous comment by Ruth. I’ve just moved to the UK from Australia and it’ll be my first cold Christmas. I’m missing the warm weather and seafood. I’d love a warm, comforting holiday candle to ease the homesickness 🙂

Not to mention I’m a huge psycho about brand name pronunciation and I’d love to have a Ralph Lauren candle in my home to correct people when they come round and inevitably say it wrong. It’s LAU-ren, like the name, not Lo-REN like… god knows what. Hahahaha.

Wow, I’d love to win so much! My current sainsbury’s bought holiday candle is nearly run out and I’m in bed feeling poorly, unable to sleep at 4am with a lemsip. Right now I’m imagining that gorgeous fragrance would cure my ails in time for Christmas day in one sniff! Ah, I love Christmas x

I love most anything RL, and I love to burn candles year round, but especially in winter…this one would be the perfect one to have this Christmas — especially if lighting it causes snowflakes to fly 🙂 But I might give it to my daughter so she could remember me while off at college!!! xo

We all now that memories are what makes Christmas special, I can’t always remember the presents I’ve received (though if DH is reading I would ALWAYS remember receiving a Chanel 2.55!) but I do remember the events and the family members that made it so special and celebrate the love we have for each other for better and worse. That’s why I would love to win the candle because scents make those memories so much more evocative, and a bit of what a Ralph Lauren Christmas smells like is only going to enhance Christmas this year!

    Merry Christmas to all!

I would love to win this candle, as only recently have I fallen in love with them! Before I thought spending my well event money on a candle was ridiculous! That is till I was given one as a gift and I have come obsessed ever since!

This candle in particular should make our little flat feel Christmassy this year!

I’d love to win, scented candles are very much appreciated in our household, as we have a lovely and soppy, but also a bit smelly, Golden Retriever named Edison. I usually cannot afford designer candles, though sometimes I splash out on True Grace’s Library candle(do you know it? It smells like a library in a stately home), so I’d feel properly spoilt this Christmas.

Count me in, who wouldn’t want to win such a lovely prize!? I think part of being a single female, away from home, and surviving the holidays is being extra nice to yourself… ie. preparing yourself a wonderful meal, decorating your own dining table with beautiful linens, beautiful candles, favourite music, and drinking your coffee or tea from fine china… maybe you won’t be with family or dining at the Ritz, but who says you can’t create your own sublime ambiance/slice of heaven at home?

I might go the sweet, christmassy way and tell you I would like to win because, as beautiful as Rome can be at Christmas time, it’s festive in a non-preppy way: no gingerbread men, no snow, no candy canes, no spice fragrance in the air… The Ralph Lauren candle and some Bing Crosby would definitely help!

Or I could go the Sopranos’ style, not so elegant way and remind you I’m your personal pusher for baby sloths in pyjamas. Careful B., I might cut you off the puppy videos anytime! (Works better if you picture me saying that with a big jaw, Brando/Corleone hoarse voice and a strong sicilian accent)! ;-D
Seriously, have a fabulous Christmas and a sparkly new year!

I’d love to win this candle, because it is my first Christmas without my family as I moved from the south of France to Chicago after getting married. I was trying to cheer myself up thinking at least I’d get my first white Christmas, but alas, no luck, it doesn’t seem like it will snow on time!
Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I had to decorate and get in the spirit without my mom and sister, whom I usually share all the Holidays Cheer with, so this candle would be a sweet comfort… And if it brings me the gift of snow, my wish would be fully granted!

Unusually, the Christmas spirit has taken a while to get to me but now it’s here I’m slightly obsessed with covering everything in fairy lights and glitter. If I could make everything smell as Christmassy as I’m planning on making it look, that would be brilliant. And, besides, yours and The Online Stylist’s tweets have made me crave this candle so I think it’s only fair…
    Merry Christmas!

I’d love to win because I’m currently a student sharing a cold draughty house with lots of smelly boys! Anything that, upon closing my bedroom door, would transport me into a beautifully fragrant dreamworld of festive glamour (wherein all washing up is done, all bathrooms are cleaned, and one gets to float about looking fabulous because the temperatures indoor aren’t sub-zero!) would therefore be much appreciated!!
