Just a few of my favourite things this month:
1. Play: Living out my own Great Gatsby fantasies and going to an opulent Cambridge May Ball (in typical Oxbridge eccentric style, May Week actually takes place over two weeks in June). Fireworks, champagne, a live band, dancing until dawn, and everyone dressed in their sparkliest refinery.
2. Sparkle: I have been in love with this Lei Van Kash rose ring for about two years, so it’s probably about time I actually buy it.
3. Buying: It feels like every item of clothing I’m buying this month is either floral print or white lace. I especially love this dress by Whistles that is just made for a garden party.
4. Wearing: I’ve rediscovered my beloved collection of Marc Jacobs Stam bags (I have three!) and have been slinging my putty-coloured version over almost everything. Casual and chic all at once!
5. Beauty note: Annick Goutal Petite Cherie perfume, which smells of juicy pears and vanilla and freshly mown grass in the morning (I like to pretend I’m lying in a sun-drenched orchard in the south of France when I spritz it on)
6. On my wish list: Charlotte Olympia Pomeline sandals (blush pink + pom poms!)
7: Listening to: Vampire Weekend (the preppy soundtrack to so many Cambridge May Week parties)
8. Watching: Tennis at Wimbledon (accompanied by champagne, strawberries and cream and a spot of people-watching).
9. Gourmand pleasures: Elderflower cordial is the flavour of summer in a bottle.
10. Small luxuries: Fresh garden roses and pink peonies from the farmer’s market.
Which pleasures are currently making you smile this month?
Love, Miss B xx

I will be in Cambridge! Just wondering which college’s May Ball you are going to? xx

Love your June highlights! Very excited about the ball in particular:you’ll be a perfect Daisy Buchanan, B!
I know most of my Italian compatriots would disagree, but England is a wonderful place to spend summer:garden parties,Wimbledon,Royal Ascot, picnics… All these obviously enjoyed while wearing hats or fascinators!
That’s why I’m beyond excitement to be in London next week, even if for just a few days!

Those Charlotte Olympia’s are divine!
I’m loving Whistles at the moment and their service is fantastic too – I had problems trying to buy a sale dress from their website, then when it sold out they tracked it down for me and had it posted to London from Scotland, and for free!
p.s. Your imminent party sounds incredible!

Oh Vampire Weekend! I love them. When I first moved to London a couple years ago it was summer and they were introduced to me then and now I will forever have memories of London in Summer when I hear them play. The Stam Bag is beautiful! I should hunt for mine and get it out too!

Oh I love the MJ bag! This color is so pretty. I have one in dark purple, so I guess I won’t take it out until fall. 😉

Those pom-pom heels are adorbs. I just don’t know if I’m brave enough for nude/blush shoes though. I have a habit of being unlucky with London weather!
Anna from South Molton St Style says
I love the Whistles top – I’ve been lusting after it too xxx

Charlotte Olympia Pomeline is my favorite too!!! But “jeans” is my favorite thing in this month . I already bought 3 jeans last week and I got a discount 🙂 I’m just tired of wearing shorts last summer.

Looks like June will be an A+ month! Wimbledon was one of my favourite things last year on my trip to England.
Things that will be making me smile this month include welcoming in winter by celebrating all its good bits (red wine, cosy knits, brunches in the sun) and then dragging out my birthday celebrations for as long as possible at the end of the month, haha.

What a fabulous list! I have to admit, the one thing that’s making me smile are my hot pink nails and the fact that it stays on! I found out that buffing your nails beforehand is fabulous and works! Have fun at the ball and don’t forget to post pics! XOXO

Ooh. I want to go to a ball. We don’t have such things on the canadian prairies. Summer here is all about mosquitos and bridge jumping into irrigation canals. And you can’t make an elegant blog post out of that. Love the soft refinement of this post. I need to think seriously about vacationing in England.
