A Girl, A Style

Inside my Bag: Illustrated Edition

Style 9 March 2013

19

It seems to be a universal truth amongst women that we love having a peek inside other women’s wardrobes, beauty cabinets and handbags.* It is nothing short of nosiness, but I love getting to see what other women use, how they organise things, and exactly what it is they tote around with them each day. Perhaps it’s just me, but I always think you can tell a lot about a woman from her handbag (and the state of its contents).

So in the spirit of our sartorial nosiness, here are a few things you’ll currently find tucked inside my handbag, as illustrated by the super talented and lovely Kristina Hultkrantz (you may recognise her work from the pages of Matchbook Magazine) who so kindly sent me this drawing (isn’t it just darling?); my beloved blush Mulberry Lily bag and bow heels, my signature long pearls and Chanel brooches (there is always an assortment of spare jewellery in my bag, just in case…), a golden Anya Hindmarch lucky sixpence coin purse, Anna Sui mirror, Chanel lipstick (there are always at least 4 lipsticks in there at any time, because a girl never knows when a red lip may suddenly be required) and nailpolish, my business cards and a collection of miscellaneous lucky charms, tokens and little things I collect throughout the day (magpie tendencies).

Not pictured, but always present; Chloe sunglasses, Miu Miu bow purse, Moleskine notebook and a pen for jotting down ideas as they strike, gum and orange blossom pastilles, Clarins concealer pen for touchups, ipod, hairclips and a Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume rollerball.

I’d love to know what you carry around inside your bag each day?

Love, Miss B xx

* Please tell me it’s not just me?

So many things in your purse! In my Vanessa Bruno bag I carry a couple of Guerlain Le Rouge G lipsticks, my La Parisienne by Inès de la Fressange agenda, iPhone, Marc Jacobs lipstick pen, Dolce e Gabbana glasses, book (currently reading Eugene Onegin), camera, umbrella and Caudalie handcream and Beauty elixir.

Lovely post Miss B. In my handbag I carry Cutler and Gross sunglasses, my iphone which has a cute Moschino teddy cover, I got it from fashion night out last year. Tom Ford – Cherry Lush lipstick, Nars – Orgasm blush and Guerlain – kohl kajal and a small round Vaseline tin. I change bags often, so I keep all make up in a small liberty pouch, and transfer when I change bags. I carry a small notebook that changes very often along with a small stationary bag with assorted pencils, pens and stickers. A bright orange Goyard wallet with cards and some cash and an old compact Leica Camera.

The contents of my bag are nowhere near as stylish. Typically 1/2 doz lipsticks of various brands, a couple of hankies and a glasses cleaner, sunnies, notebook, a couple of pens, a coin purse as well as wallet and keys, iPod, iPhone, Bus ticket, headache tablets, nail file, fold up umbrella, old receipts, hair elastics and a few business cards of restaurants I have recently visited!

Thanks for the post…I had to check contents and therefore undertake a cleanup!

Briony, this is such a wonderful illustration! I think it’s the perfect representation of your style! I’m in love with Kristina’s work, she is so incredibly talented!
I have a similar mish-mash of things that never leave my purse: my Louis Vuitton wallet, a bunch of cocktail rings (who knows when I may need them, right?), three or four lipsticks and lip glosses (pink, always, since I still have yet to find my perfect shade of red), a notebook and a pen to jot down ideas and inspirations, an agenda (in order to never be late) and my favorite black currant bubble gum. I guess I just love to tote my little life around 🙂

    Have the loveliest of afternoons!

    xx Ivana

I always carry sunglasses but never an umbrella, which really doesn’t make sense in UK but never mind. I’m addicted to lipgloss and lipsticks and always have loads on me. Chanel powder with mirror for touch-ups, key with a collection of keyrings which on its own already weights a ton. IPhone, DKNY wallet (planning to buy a new one), Filofax and many more other things. Too many to mention.

I’m OBSESSED with what’s in my bag posts and I’ve never seen someone do such a beautiful illustration. I did one of my own a little while back! (http://www.kkaboodle.com/2012/10/17/whats-in-my-bag/)

In my Balenciaga (new) bag (broke the bank too) I stuff it with my Marc by Marc zip round wallet. eeekkk as I was writing this comment I stared into my bag what’s inside and saw a loose lid… my cream was exposed!! Thank goodness I sealed it up now.

So..my wallet, iphone, Lancome Juicy lipgloss, toothbrush, deodorant and chocolate bar 🙂
