Happy Spring! How has your April been? I’m just back from three glorious weeks back home in Australia. After working so much I burned myself out (I really need to get better at this freelance life…!), it was so nice to completely switch off and not think about work or look at my phone or emails for a few weeks (so much so that I forgot to even Instagram). We just spent time with family and friends beach-hopping, exploring and eating our way around Brisbane, northern NSW, Adelaide, and Melbourne. My husband is straight off again to Turkey for a week, so I’m planning a nice relaxing weekend at home in Cambridge (I can’t bear to leave my cat again, haha) before getting back into the swing of things next week.
1. Welome in the new season // Although I’ve arrived home to a cold and rainy England, the promise of the new season is in the air and I can’t wait to go blossom-hunting. Make the most of the longer days by heading to your favourite neighbourhood to see everything springing to life.
2. Add a new fragrance to your collection // The arrival of spring blossoms mean it’s time for a fresh new fragrance, and Jo Malone have just brought back my favourite spring perfume! I loved it so much I actually bought two bottles when it first came out (I used up the very last drop in Australia this week), so was very happy to see it make a comeback this week.
3. Pick up an inspiring new book // If there’s one advantage to a 30 hour trip, it’s finally having time to catch up on all the movies (I, Tonya, Call Me By Your Name, The Greatest Showman), TV series (VEEP), and reading I’d been meaning to get through. I devoured this book on the way home – it’s the perfect commute / bedtime read and a reminder to prioritise your own happiness everyday.
4. Get some serious apartment inspiration // The Coveteur went over to my friend Grace‘s Brooklyn home and I want to move in immediately.
5. Put your best foot forward // Want the perfect summer shoes? I found them! I bought these shoes before my trip to Australia and they are a wardrobe game-changer – affordable, chic, lightweight (making them perfect for packing), and so comfortable (the rubber wedge sole means they don’t feel like a heel and I walked in them for hours each day without a single complaint). I also love this lower version and this salmon shade.
6. Buy your dream dress // My friend and fellow dress-enthusiast, Julia of Gal Meets Glam, just launched her own line of dresses and I’m in love with every single one (bonus points for being available in such an inclusive range of sizes).
7. Send some snail mail // When was the last time you sent someone a letter? Tomorrow I plan on sitting in front of an old movie and hand-writing a stack of thank you notes and letters to friends who I haven’t been able to see lately. I love this pretty set guaranteed to brighten any letterbox.
Happy weekend everyone!
Love, Briony xx
