I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend! Mine was gloriously relaxed and full of good things, which was just what I needed after a busy week. There was a picnic by the river with friends, games of croquet (which I’m still rather terrible at, by the way), afternoon tea, lots of reading, and a visit to the Antony Gormley exhibition at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge with my cousin.
The highlight was a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show with my aunt thanks to a lovely invitation from one of my favourite perfumery brands (thank you, Floris). I donned my most ladylike outfit – the perfect summer dress, my favourite flats for walking around all day, and a bag big enough to hold an umbrella and camera – that seemed perfectly matched to my plans for the day (though I’ve also worn this dress with white trainers and a leather jacket to make it a little less feminine and it looks just as cool).
Despite the muggy weather (hello, frizzy hair!) it was every bit as lovely as we’d hoped, and we spent the morning ‘ooh‘-ing and ‘ahh‘-ing around the show gardens and sniffing our way around the great pavilion – I couldn’t get enough of all the new varieties at the David Austin rose exhibition, which smelled even more gorgeous than you could imagine.

Given our mutual love affair with all things floral, afterwards we decided to continue the theme of the day and take a walk around neighbourhood to see all the ‘Chelsea in Bloom’ displays. Aside from Christmas, this is absolutely my favourite time of year in London – the whole city is dressed up for spring, the stores are awash with flowers, and everyone is in a better mood.
After drinks at The Ivy Chelsea Garden, I headed off to Soho to continue the long weekend festivities. My friend Meghan was in town from New York, so we met at Dean Street Townhouse for the most delicious afternoon tea. After talking for hours and hours, we pottered around the area before heading to the Parlour at Fortnum & Mason for yet more tea (I know…).
It was the scheduling equivalent of stopping to smell the roses, and a reminder of how much lovelier a week is when you have a few wonderful dates to look forward to.

Adore the blue and white dress against the yellow blooms! So wish I could have made the flower show, but glad you had an amazing time (and stopped to smell the David Austin roses!).
