Happy Friday! The past week was definitely a great one. My best friend and I went to see Harry Connick Jnr perform (he was so good I’m still thinking about it non-stop) and then I headed to Paris where I spent the week with my friend Meghan. We were so spoiled with the weather (it was so hot and sunny and definitely did not feel like October) and spent the whole week walking all over the city + indulging in all our Parisian things (she’s the only person I know who adores Paris quite as much as me). I just got back and am starting Invisalign this afternoon (eek!), and then can’t wait for a quiet weekend in Cambridge.
Here’s what else I’m loving right now:
1. Protect your tech // The night before I left for Paris I got a late train home and the man next to me managed to scoop my phone off the table thinking it was his (who knew a phone could be accidentally stolen?). Thank goodness I had ‘find my iPhone’ setup (and could remember my password); I quickly logged into my account on my friend’s phone, put it into lost mode, tracked it to the man’s exact address in the middle of nowhere, and then my friend drove there to retrieve it a few hours before I had to be on a Eurostar (what a hero!). Moral of the story: put something good on Netflix + spend a few hours this weekend cleaning up your digital files, updating your passwords, and backing up your phone / tablet / computer.
2. Put a sparkle in your step // Everyone wears so much black in winter that it’s nice to have a hint of sparkle to brighten up dark outfits + grey days alike. I bought a bronze version of these sequin shoes a few years ago (seen here + here) and they’re still my most-worn party heels for winter so I’m so glad they’ve brought them back in silver for this season. Wear them with your favourite LBD or team them with jeans and a sweater to dress up your off-duty wardrobe.
3. Get a good night’s sleep // I almost never go to bed early enough, and I’m not very good about having a long, relaxing wind-down before I do. If you’re like me and your mind refuses to turn off when you hit the pillow, this stuff really does help you to switch off your thoughts + drift off to sleep fast. If nothing else, it feels soothing and indulgent and you’ll feel like you’re in a fancy hotel misting it around your pillows.
4. Always be the hostess with the mostess // I reference this book at least one a month; it’s so useful for style, entertaining, and etiquette tips, and solutions to all those modern conundrums. If you’re a fellow Kate Spade enthusiast, this is a must-have resource.
5. Dress up your ears // It’s not like I need another pair of earrings, but have you ever seen a prettier pair (that didn’t cost a fortune)? Statement earrings are one of my favourite year-round wardrobe hacks. No matter what you’re wearing, add some lipstick and a pair of these and you’ll like like you’ve made an effort (even if you haven’t).
6. Upgrade an everyday item // I know I say it all the time, but I love upgrading those boring items you use every day so that. Unlike something you save for a ‘special occasion’ and only get to use every now and then, they bring micro moments of joy every time you use them. I love this golden cutlery set (and such a good price too); think how much more special your morning porridge will feel when served with a golden spoon?
7. Snuggle up + get cosy //Autumn to me equals cosy nights at home. And nothing says cosy like a pot of tea, an old Nora Ephron or Nancy Meyers movie (I must watch ‘It’s Complicated’ at least monthly at this time of year), and enough candles to be a borderline fire hazard. I bought this one last week and it smells like warm pumpkin pie and cinnamon sugar and everything delicious.

Still reveling in our Parisian days! Also most definitely watched Something’s Gotta Give while in Paris – this is the best time for Nancy Meyers movies indeed!

It was the BEST! And I haven’t watched that one in at least a year so that’s definitely going on my viewing list for next weekend 😉
