Happy weekend everyone! This week was nice and quiet, which was just what was needed. My friend Meghan (who you may remember from this post from our trip to Paris last year) was in town from New York for a few days so I stayed at her hotel and we squeezed in as many of our other favourite London things as possible, the highlight of which was the Dior-themed afternoon tea at The Berkeley (which I cannot recommend enough). My weekend plans involve a massage, a date with my friend + godson, a movie night and lots of reading time, and a few projects around the house I have been meaning to tackle for too long (this month’s Happiness Project is to get organised + spring clean, so I’m not allowed to put it off). My idea of the perfect weekend to be honest!
Here’s what else I’m loving right now:
1. Welcome a new season // Spring is on it’s way, which means the markets are brimming with gorgeous flowers and new-season produce. Why don’t you pick up a bunch of spring asparagus or rhubarb to bake a tart, and an armful of scented white narcissus to bring some spring joy into your place (even if it’s still cold and grey outside).
2. Get a head start on your spring wardrobe // It’s an annoying fashion truth that all the best pieces always arrive at the very start of the season (i.e. when you can’t even wear them). But since I am officially tired of winter clothes and have the thought of have warmer days on the brain, I finally relented and bought a few new pieces for spring this week. ASOS is always one of my favourite sites for great but inexpensive pieces, and this emerald sundress + this dusty rose midi dress + and this white broderie dress have all made their way into my wardrobe ready for their warm-weather debut.
3. Have a rose-scented home // In winter, I’ll take an indulgent evening at home vs a night out any day, so I’d rather spend my money on a beautiful candle than a round of drinks at a bar. My cousin bought me this beautiful Diptyque candle from their limited edition rose collection for my birthday last month (clearly she knows me well), and it has been filling my house with the most heavenly scent all month. It smells exactly like sticking your nose straight into a big, voluptuous fresh garden rose (rather than the powdery rose our grandmothers might have worn) and is so gorgeous I just bought a second to save for later. If you’re a fellow Diptyque fan, you will definitely love this one.
4. Make the most of Mercury retrograde // A friendly reminder that Mercury is retrograde again (until the 28th), in case you were wondering why everything felt upside down this week. Gala Darling’s Mercury retrograde survival guide never lets me down.
5. Lounge in style // Spring might be nearing, but it’s definitely still hibernation season in my book. I love a chic bathrobe to wear for my post-shower morning routine, for lazy Sunday mornings at home (ideally teamed with a face mask + a book), or after the bath when I’ve slathered myself in body cream (or, less glamorously, fake tan). I wanted a new lightweight version for spring so ordered this linen one a couple of weeks ago not expecting much, but the rosy hue and the linen fabric looks so chic and it is such beautiful quality for the price.
6. Give up plastic for Lent (or for good) // Do you give anything up for Lent? Whether you’re practising or not, this is such a great excuse to ditch a bad habit or implement a positive change. Last year I gave up single-use plastic and it was such a good exercise in thinking more consciously about my daily habits and consumption (and I don’t think I’ve ever used a disposable coffee cup, straw or plastic bag since!). Even if you’re not doing the same, this hot + cold water bottle is an easy step in reducing your plastic waste, and it’s so cute you’ll want to use it everyday. I fill mine with hot tea for my morning commute and then water for the rest of the day.
7. Have a self-care Sunday // When was the last time you took an hour just to yourself? Do some yoga, put on your favourite music, run a bubble bath, do a face mask, paint your nails, read a book – just shut yourself in your room for a while and do whatever makes you feel relaxed and pampered.

I’m thinking of giving up social media for Lent (apart from blogging). I think I can survive 40 days without Instagram.

Ooh that’s a good one! Good luck; you have more willpower than me if you can resist Instagram for 40 days 😉
