Happy Friday everyone! Do you celebrate Easter where you are? I’m not especially religious but this celebration has always held a special place in my heart. My husband has been away for a few weeks so I’m going to meet him at Heathrow airport tomorrow and then we’re going to my family’s place in London for a long weekend of Easter feasting, walks in the sunshine, and visiting a few of our favourite West London gardens. I cannot wait! Here’s what else I’m loving right now:
1. Make the most of the weather // It seems as though all of England is springing to life right now. Switch off all your devices, head to the your favourite green space to take in all the trees and flowers in full bloom, and soak up that much-needed Vitamin D.
2. Buy a gorgeous new dress you’ll wear all season // I have blue skies and sunny weather on the brain, so I’ve been happily hunting for the best pieces of the season to add to my spring wardrobe. I just ordered this dress + this dress (+ an embarrassing number of other things) from J.Crew and I can’t wait to wear them with a straw bag and sandals (P.S. everything is 30% off this weekend with code ‘HEYSPRING’).
3. Smell like spring // I’ve been wearing this gorgeous new Jo Malone perfume all month, and it smells like warm summer evenings back home in Australia (the street where my dad lives is lined with frangipani trees, and the smell is indescribably lovely). If you like a white floral scent and like me are dreaming of a week in the Bahamas, you’ll love this!
4. Set a goal (and achieve it) // I loved this post by my friend Ella about practical strategies to set and achieve a long-term goal. I am a compulsive ‘finisher’ (whether it’s a book or a beauty product – I like to see things through to the end) but sometimes I get distracted or thrown off-course and struggle with longer-term projects, so I’m implementing this tips ASAP!
5. Put your best foot forward // I like starting the season with a new pair of shoes that are both pretty and practical so that I know I’ll get as much wear out of them as possible. I bought the blush version of these espadrilles last spring and they were one of my favourite purchases of all time; they’re so comfortable I could walk in them all day, and they somehow managed to go with my entire summer wardrobe. This pair look like the espadrille version of my Chanel flats, and they’d look so chic teamed with jeans or black or white dresses.
6. Hang a mirror in your entryway for last-minute touch-ups // I used to constantly go to work having forgotten to put on mascara (I’d always think ‘oh I’ll do that on the train’ when I was running late, and then would inevitably forget) or worse – do up the back of my dress! I hung a small mirror right by the front door and it’s perfect for checking my face / making sure I haven’t spilled coffee on my top as I’m dashing out the door in the morning. I love the mermaid vibes of this chic gold scalloped mirror.
7. Take your winter coats to the dry cleaner // It’s not quite time to pack away all our cold-weather clothes just yet, but the last of the coat weather is (hopefully) behind us. Get rid of any pilling with a fabric shaver (I have this one and it is one of the most satisfying things I own) to make them look like new, and then take them to be cleaned so they’re fresh and ready to be stored until next winter.
