A Girl, A Style

Baby, it’s cold outside!

Cambridge 22 February 2010

3

All of Cambridge looks like this.

Ordinarily, I revel in the cosiness that winter brings.

I adore snuggling up beside the heater with a good book or a stack of magazines, a steaming cup of tea, and a cashmere blanket. I’ll roast some chestnuts, bake a tart, light some Diptyque candles and put some Aesop Catherine oil (a delicious blend of orange and clove) on the burner. I don’t even mind journeying out in the cold to find a tiny cosy cafe or bar in which to get comfortable, and insulating myself against the drafty winds with a Louis Vuitton cashmere scarf and more layers than I care to count. In fact, I find it can be more inspirational to dress when it’s on the chilly (but not arctic) side* – one can layer with ropes of jewels, the softest of scarves, blazers, hats, and boots (I have a thing for boots).

But even I’m starting to tire of all this snow and rain and am yearning for a proper English Spring day. Will it be much longer?

Love, Miss B xx

* However it is virtually impossible to remain chic when the weather temperature drops beyond the realm of chilly. It’s not only freezing – thus calling for industrial layers, but the paths are icy (I refuse to wear sensible shoes and have, consequently, taken a tumble far more times than is acceptable without being ridiculous) and the sleet/rain/puddles threaten to ruin everything, including any semblance of good hair.

I can’t believe you have snow (again) no sign of it here on the North Kent Coast and today was slightly warmer than the last two days which were freezing!
