Fuschia Mania

It is officially summer (even if the weather does insist on the monsoonal rainstorm which is currently mocking me outside as I write this). Endlessly long, balmy days bring with it the desire to eat nothing but salads and juicy fruit and dress in lively bright colours. Normally a colour-phobe (my wardrobe consists predominantly of white, black, grey, and soft blush tones), I’m suddenly craving a shot of fuschia to lift things.

As seen backstage at Marc by Marc Jacobs and Prada, fuschia lips or cheeks looks fun and young if worn against an otherwise restrained palette (please, no Malibu Barbie style dressing!). For the best shades there are, turn to Nars’ Schiap or Mac’s Pink Nouveau.

Similarly, a single fuschia accent looks au courant when worn against a backdrop of nude, grey, or black clothes. For those in the southern hemisphere and about to enter the winter months, nothing lifts a grey day like this Isabel Marant blazer or hot pink lips in a sea of greige.

However don’t feel this trend should stop with your makeup bag and wardrobe – it also looks wonderful as an accent in your home. As a bunch of cerise peonies, a chandelier or lamp, a chair, a cushion or an entire wall – a shot of bright fuschia is both fun and chic. I’m lusting after this pink Kartell chair, and how gorgeous is Ines Fressange’s pink Parisian office?

Growing up, I was lucky enough to live in a grand Victorian villa in a leafy suburb. My mother, who had impeccable (but always adventurous) taste, had our whole dining room painted the same bright shade of pink. It was a marvelously quirky contrast against the grand high ceilings and 17th century carved dining table – and I’m sure it made dinner parties that much more fun. I always vowed to have a dining room the same colour when I have a house of my own.

What colour are you craving at the moment?

Love, Miss B xx

A fuschia dining room sounds amazing. We had a tangerine kitchen for a while – my mum painted it whilst my dad was away on business. It didn’t last long!

Ooh loving the occasional burst of fuchsia in those pics. I think I’m, going for red at the moment!

you know how i struggle to wear colour! but loving pops of cobalt blue – i am considering some heels in this colour – big jump for me! (i am very much obsessed with olive/grass greens at the moment – though i am aware this is not a ‘pop’ kind of colour) xoxoxoxox.

Love it, love it, love it! How refreshing is fuschia? So vibrant and amazing…

Fuschia lipstick HAS to be the best. When worn correctly, it looks unbelievable.

My shopping habits are pretty much the same thing, I don’t spend on cheap stuff so I have enough saved for something big when I want it!

    Cheers

Definitelty blues. I’ve never really been a colour fan, but royal, aqua & navy are the colours I’m currently craving.

Love love love that Isabel Marant blazer… and the pink chair against the white desk.. what I wouldn’t give for an office like that! Mind you, at least with my set up in the dining room, Other Half still knows I exist and won’t divorce me on the grounds of blog abandonment! Gorgeous post! x

I want that as my office too Amanda (preferably with a gorgeous view through the window to stare at all day)! But you’re right, our relationships are probably much more secure with our current setups 😉
