A Girl, A Style

In the Bag: Russian Edition

Style, Travel 23 March 2011

Since everyone seems to love these posts so much, it seemed only appropriate to do one in Moscow.

Regular readers may recall that when I had my Chanel 2.55 bag stolen last year, one of the reasons I was so distraught was that it had travelled the world with me & thus had enormous sentimental value – one of my lucky travel talismans, if you like. So when I replaced dear Chanel on my trip back to Australia at Christmas time, I was thrilled to have my favourite globetrotting accessory back again (I just pretend it’s the very same bag, and erase the whole robbery affair from my memory). The only downside to travelling with Chanel? As she’s so small (by my standards anyway – I like to cart everything I might possibly need in a day, ever, around with me), there’s no room for anything but the essentials.

So what’s are my Moscow essentials? Passport and roubles (police can stop you in the street and demand to see your identification at any time in Russia, so don’t be caught without it), sweet little matryoscka dolls I picked up around Red Square as souvenirs, my good luck charm (a tiny little golden budha inside a silk pouch, picked up at a temple in Tokyo), spare jewels (always to be found in my bag), Chanel’s ‘Vendetta’ polish and, because it felt entirely appropriate to wear red lipstick at all times in Moscow, neon red Mac ‘Impassioned’ lipstick for day and Chanel’s ‘Fatale’ for night.

So, what’s in your bag?

Love, Miss B xx

I love ‘In the bag’ posts for two reasons; one is because I am nosey and the other is because I smply love handbags. You have impeccable taste, me dear.

I’m incredibly nosey about people’s wardrobes (I pore over every last shoe and bag in those magazine features on glamorous people’s closets) too! And thank you lovely

Beautiful bag, as we all know. Every girl should have a 2.55 in her wardrobe, there is something about it, the chain, the quilted stitching… beautiful! I wish you, and your travelling “companion” many years of fun, and adventures. I love posts like this…. It’s always oddly fascinate what people may, or may not have in their bags ha! Hope you are doing well B! x

Love love love this kind of posts. Is that MAC lipstick the one you are wearing in your picture from Moscow? It looks amazing! Do you have any other favourites? I’m trying to move away from nude colours… x

Thank you so much! Actually in the picture in my previous post (From Russia, With Love…) I was wearing the Chanel Fatale (no. 71) – which is a deep red. The MAC Impassioned is definitely a bright neon pinky red (but really fun and wearable for daytime). And I know what you mean, on a daily basis I rely on nude and pale pinks (a rotation of MAC Myth, Saint Germain, Hue and Snob), so it’s fun to go to a place where nothing but red feels appropriate

Wow I certainly need one of those bags in my life. However I may find it hard to edit all the contents which are continuously falling out of my Mulberry Bayswater! But if you can do it I have hope he he! xx

You should see how much stuff I normally carry! The trick with a tiny bag is to get rid of your wallet (and carry the cards/cash by themselves) and any other bulky pouches. I hope you get a Chanel in your life some day!

I am the worst at editing as a mum I never know what I’ll need if any one ever did a what’s in your bag post to me, I would unravel a scroll that would unfold to my and feet and out in to the horizon, I have anything, and everything in there so should probably use the need for an edit to invest in such a gorgeous bag. xx

I love taking a sneak peak into other people’s handbags, although would feel too ashamed to post my own (so much junk!) I was very pleased to see you carry a good luck charm around with you. I have a little black cat from my mother, which I carry for luck, too.

Those dolls are very cute 😉
