30 Things to do Before I’m 30, Part 2

Lifestyle 10 August 2012

28

Regular readers may remember the ’30 Things To Do Before I’m 30′ post I did for my 29th birthday back in February. Six months on, I’m still joyfully working my way through the list and am well on my way to checking off all thirty.

Because it remains one of my most popular posts to date and because so many of you emailed to say that it inspired you to make your own list of goals for this year, I thought I’d use the six month mark as a timely excuse to revisit the list (as much for my own motivation as yours).

Some things I’ve already checked off (visiting Japan during cherry blossom season – although we sadly missed the full blossom explosion by two days), a long weekend in the Cotswolds, exploring new parts of London each month (the image above is from my first trip to Columbia Road Flower Market), going to Wimbledon (an English must), attending the Olympics (it would have been rude not to), and spending a whole summer night at a Cambridge May Ball (unquestionably the most gloriously decadent party I’ve ever been to) and more.

I only shared ten things from my list last time, so here’s a few more that I hope might inspire you all too.

11) Do something that makes me feel like an excited small child (in my case, this was a trip to Tokyo Disneyland; I practically squealed with glee when I walked through those gates and felt all my childhood excitement from trips to Disneylad with my parents come rushing back)

12) Go to a music festival (I’m off to my very first one as I write this!)

13) Aim to end the year the healthiest I’ve ever been

14) Send thoughtful and sweet parcels and hand-written letters to my friends around the world often (because getting wonderful post is a delight)

15) Book in for the most opulent afternoon tea in town (I went to the Berkeley in London with my friend Dearne for their fashion-themed Pret-a-Portea)

16) Learn a new skill (I spent a weekend learning to knit in Cornwall)

18) Make the most of the Cambridge summer with hours spent riding my bike and having lazy picnics by the river as punts float down the Cam

19) Go to at least two galleries and museums I’ve never visited

20) Go ice skating outdoors at Christmas (a childhood fantasy I’m still yet to indulge)

Have you made your own list? I’d love to hear how you’re all going!

Love, Miss B xx

Your list is brilliant! I turned 30 in May and unfortunately I found out about this little “30 by 30” project some time in April so I didn’t have time to do my own. 31 by 31 maybe? ๐Ÿ˜‰

That is a wonderful list! I have to make my own. I always think of stuff but never write it down and then I forget and it doesn’t add up to much in the end! great inspiration ๐Ÿ™‚

I really enjoyed the first part of your list and this one, too. I’ve never made a true list (ideas float around in my head, but I’ve never put pen to paper…or fingers to keyboard), but seeing your posts about yours makes me realize: It’s not actually that daunting to cross things off! You just have to be proactive and DO them. I particularly like your idea to visit two new museums and galleries. I will definitely be adding that to my (in-my-head) list! Thanks for sharing, and for the inspiration.

I’m *only* 21, but I have a similar list! It involves a lot of travelling, so I might have to wait until I become somewhat of a breadwinner ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love lists and I think yours is wonderful. I feel like such a lazy bum seeing what you’re up to!

I am…hm…”little” bit over 30, and I have my own list. It is acctually 100 things I want to do in life, but I think this idea of things to do until your next birthday (doesn’t matter which one) is briliant and stimulating to have an amazing year!!!

I was actually inspired by another blogger (Joy The Baker) to put together a Summer Bucket List, and ticking things off (I only have one left) has really sorted my Summer and I’ve really made the most of it because of the list trying to tick things off. Now I’m going to put together two lists; a list of things to do while I’m living in Los Angeles as I’ve only going to be able to enjoy living there for 10 months, then a list of things to do before I turn 21 to do when I return to London!

    Love this!!
What a great list…and I especially like the one with sending handwritten and thoughtful posts to friends.
This is such a lost art but I personally LOVE receiving something in the mail…and when it’s personalized and done by hand…even better. It’s a real treat to receive something like this.

Ah 4 months from my 29th so my list has some time to materialize! Although I do make short lists of what I would like to achieve each year, it makes me so happy to check them off!

I didn’t just have a list like this when I was thirty, I have a list like this all the time, thinking of all the things I want to do – it makes me happy to tick them off! This year a lot of travel was achieved (I wanted to see the Grand Canyon which I did and Death Valley too) and I’ve added personal challenges like literature I want to read and food I want to taste too. I hope you make your list last past 30 but wow you’re doing so well already! x

I have just started reading your blog and I think you are a really down to earth person and really put thought into what you write. I have finally decided to actually write down my bucket list instead of keeping it in my head. I also have things that I want to do before turning 30, three more years but I think its a great idea to do it within a year. Makes you think about the little things that are the most important to you right in that moment instead of thinking years in advanced.
    Can’t wait to hear more.

Such a pleasure to see you listed with me on Rachels’s blog too – howdy neighbour!

p.s When I have money, please may I come visit you and possibly tick off one of those Cambridge based goals ๐Ÿ˜‰
